Honestly, You'd have to be a Member of 'The Club' to truly understand. When others Define The Very Best Coaches don't Determine 'SUCCESS' by Scoreboards, W-L Records--Even Titles.
The Man he is. Character he possesses. How he Leads by Example simply thru the Way he leads his life. All The Lessons. Significant, Positive impact he has on his players. How he Stared Genuine Adversity in the Face, Refusing to Quit, Committing to Do Whatever Necessary--Now, A Two-Time Cancer Survivor & Unbelievable Picture of Unwavering Determination & Faith. Always Giving God the Glory.
When he says, 'I Love You Guys' & 'I'm ALWAYS here for you, I mean that.' WHAT? WHEN? WHERE? HOW? WHY? It's No Matter. I know this for a fact. And there's nothing you could ever do to cause him to take that Love, Support, Encouragement or Faith away. You Can Call That A Testimony! As I said, You would have to be part of this very special 'Club' in order to completely Understand.
From deep within my soul I say to you:
It is, has been & Always will be My Most Treasured Blessing.
I've always felt it an Honor to be able to share my father with My THOUSANDS of 'Honorary' Brothers. My Daddy is Special enough to Share, that means alot to me. Commonly referred to as: 'The Best Man EVER..' TRUE. But also, my Best Friend, My Hero, 'Mr. T' (A-TEAM), My Rock, Anchor.
My First Love--Incomparable Example of What A Man Should Be (Thanks. Imagine Having to Size Prospects Up against The 'Best Man Ever'.)

My Gran was the most charming person I have ever known. She didn't "tow the line" like the rest. She was unconventional. She marched (in her case, line-danced) to her own beat. She was quirky--and she owned it. When she walked into a room, she had the room's attention. Everyone who was blessed to know her loved her. She was hilarious & loved nothing more than to make someone laugh (often times by shocking them with a good practical joke). And she would get a kick out laughing at herself. I learned how to do the same--a valuable life lesson. She had an amazing wardrobe--which I was blessed to inherit part of. She was always "dressed to impress." From fancy one-of-a-kind gowns to basic pieces, she always did it up her own way...usually in blue, her favorite color. No matter where she was going, she had to have on the jewelry and everything. One day she told me, Megan, " Remember: Never leave the house without lipstick on."
If she started something, she finished it. But always on her own terms. That's how she lived her life all the way up to when the Good Lord called her home.
Although she was never afraid to "put it all out there," I feel like there were still other sides of her that only I got to see. I will never know why she chose to let me in like that. But it was an honor.

When I think if the word Grace, I envision my Nana--"Rose Juanita"--as I always call her. (She always calls me "Megan Nicole." I love that.) She is the epitome of a Gracious Woman. So beautiful, sweet, kind, warm. She accepts everyone as they are--and never judges. She has always enjoyed entertaining company, and happily welcomes anyone who happens to stop by. And you will always be offered something to eat AND some to take home with you.
I love trying to be the ultimate hostess. When I prepare a meal, I aim to utilize as many of my pretty little dishes as possible. (You should have seen us eat breakfast, like we were entertaining royalty.) Nana taught me that its okay if you break a dish--because that means you were enjoying using it. Putting something high up on a shelf just so you can look at it, never actually using it is a shame. (I've found that to be a metaphor that has applied to multiple situations in my life.)
You will never see her when she isn't 'dressed to the nines'. The perfectly put together ensemble. The shoes. The jewelry. She even has signature colors. Because of her my dining table is always set. I collect vintage china & crystal...& I've been wearing high heels since I could walk. Oh, and you haven't Bargain-Shopped til you've Bargain-Shopped with me. I learned from the best. I remember her gracious little shuffle as we hurried through the mall. Papaw did his "WALKING" while we shopped & he put us "on the clock" so I learned to shop smart--& quickly. We'd always rush back to find Papaw asleep on the bench or bust him "WALKING" around the food court, eating all the little samples. Little Rose Juanita would jerk a knot in his tail. It was clear who was the"boss" and who she allowed to think he was the boss.
She is the best Nana ever. I truly think she's the sweetest little woman God ever made. She loves taking care of others & has always taken care of all of us, and prays diligently for all of us. When she prays for you--I seriously think she has a direct line to God. Lord knows, her prayers have gotten me through some tough times.
My Daddy--My Best Friend, My Partner in Crime...My Hero. I could go on and on about what an amazing father God has blessed me with. And not only what he means to myself, my mother & brother--but what he has meant to so many people.
But right now, I want to share one of the most important life lessons I've learned from him. Though fairly simple, it has taken me a long time to fully grasp it.
For as long as I can remember my Daddy has had the habit of randomly--without any particular reason--saying "Sweetie Pie O' I'm so proud of you." ('Sweetie-Pie-O' is his nickname for me). To which I always reply with a sarcastic laugh, "WHY?"
And he always responds: "Because you are my daughter" as if it never occurred to him that there needed to be another reason.
That reminds me that he loves me unconditionally & is proud of me just because I am his--just like my Heavenly Father does.
Real love should always be unconditional...in our families & with anyone we let into our lives. Especially when we find the "One" God intends for us. We should never have to EARN anyone's love. Respect, maybe. Trust, perhaps. But never love.
Our love, appreciation & acceptance of one another should be based on WHO WE ARE, rather than WHAT WE DO.
So celebrate YOU. Because you are Wonderfully made. The people who truly love you, love all of you--your Unique gifts & talents, as well as "quirks" and flaws. So embrace all of it.
